Playing with water

I came across some very cool macro shots of water and thought man that looks like fun. Here is my first attempt at it. Enjoy and let me now what you think. Now that I have figured out the basics of it I plan on experimenting in the future.

Macro fun in my yard

I woke up a couple days ago and saw that the screw pine in my front yard had flowered. This is the first time I have seen this so today I pulled out my Nikon 105mm 2.8 micro lens. Here are my favorites. I did a little cropping but not much, definitely a bit nerve wracking having these bees swarm all around me.
Enjoy,
John

The beauty of casting

I thought I would share this sampling on my photography blog as well as my fishing blog. I had a request from a client for some casting images so I shot these yesterday with my buddy Jason. Super overcast morning made for some great effects.
Enjoy,
John

First post... just a sampling

Most of you checking out this blog are familiar with the fact that I am fly fishing guide in Stuart, Florida but if you are not familiar with me let me introduce myself. (read my bio to the right, it says all you need to know.) I created this blog as a place to share images I have created that are not necessarily related to fishing. If you like fishing I have another blog that is a few years old you can check it out at www.stuartflyfishing.blogspot.com this is where I am going to house mainly fishing pictures. Mostly fish, fisherman, and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Here you will find complete randomness, images that may be considered fine art, right down to pictures I have taken and edited on my iPhone just for fun. (BTW, my new iPhone 4s takes incredible shots.) I will make no guarantees that you won't see fish here, as a matter of fact I am going to post a tarpon as my first shot. I will be describing some of my images, like how I took them or even how I edited them. I do 99% of my editing in Lightroom and very little in Photoshop. Honestly, I have CS5 but have no idea how to really utilize it. I am sure I would use it more if I had the time to learn but I would rather be out taking pictures or fishing. I have a hard enough time sitting at the computer writing new posts for my blogs. That's why you may just see pictures in some posts.
Enjoy.

I took this shot as a tarpon spooked from my boat, I ran it through the clarity tool in Lightroom to give it the look I was wanting to achieve. This is one of my favorites because it almost looks like an underwater shot.

A friend of mine with her boys.

I went on a hike this morning with Kelly and found this very cooperative dragonfly, the light was bad so I couldn't get the shutter speed I wanted but still managed a decent shot.

Another beautiful sunrise in Stuart, FL.

Here is an iPhone 4s shot. These palm trees were reflecting on the water so I took a picture flipped it upside down and added some color in the camera+ app. fun stuff.

Another iPhone shot, this one straight out of the phone no editing.

the shot above using the camera+ HDR effect.
